Ready to dance on the unusual, sometimes forgotten upbeat of the music? We spend so much time rooted in the downbeat and the melody, but what about the embellishments in the music you want to hit with a different body part? Here we will practice drilling on the downbeat and the upbeat, getting your body ready to hit whatever musicality you desire.

Kendra was lucky enough to find her passion at the age of 8 when she took her first belly dance class. She spent most of her teenage years in the dance studio immersed in the study of belly dance, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, classical ballroom, and salsa. In 1999, she became the youngest dancer ever to be accepted into the Suhaila Dance Company and by age 18, was assistant director of the Suhaila Dance Company and of Bal Anat, as well as a principal teacher in the Suhaila Salimpour School of Dance.
Lately, she has been studying and performing as a part of today’s West Coast Tribal Fusion scene – most notably with Zoe Jakes, Mira Betz, and Sharon Kihara. Professionally, she is a member of Zoe Jakes’ Coven Dance Company.
In addition to being a hard-working dancer, she’s also a Certified Personal Trainer. When she’s not on the dance floor, she’s out there kicking butts. As a trainer as well as a dance teacher, she’s known for attention to detail and a keen eye for what each student needs to be able to grow. She has cultivated a sound understanding of anatomy and the way the human body moves – gleaned particularly from work as a personal trainer – giving her the necessary tools to identify imbalances in student’s bodies, guiding them out of injury and into growth.
